Sam Altman’s World Crypto Project Launches in US With Eye-Scanning Orbs in 6 Cities
Sam Altman’s blockchain initiative, World, is making its U.S. debut with plans to deploy 7,500 eye-scanning orbs across the country by year-end. The chrome, bowling ball-shaped devices, designed to verify identity through iris recognition, will first appear in six major innovation hubs: Atlanta, Austin, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, and San Francisco.
Participants who undergo the orb scan gain access to the World app and receive an airdrop of the project’s WLD token. The ambitious rollout aims to cover 180 million Americans—over half the population—expanding access to World’s network. Altman’s venture continues to stir debate as it scales its biometric-driven crypto ecosystem.
